Fortress of Inca believes that the people who make their shoes are just as important as the people who buy them. We work with several workshops and factories in Peru. We audit and investigate every factory that makes shoes with us and we ask them questions. Lots of questions. Most of these questions involve the workers. They use the best materials available to them, and in the case of manufacturing in Peru, there are a plethora of excellent materials to use. South American leather is renown the world over for its quality. The wood in Peru is excellent and so is the rubber, so they use these materials as often as we can. Many brands save production costs by cutting corners in the interior of the shoe, not Fortress, they use the finest lining and insoles because nice leather breathes and it keeps odors out.
